You may not be aware that provincial guidelines for Occupational Health and Safety require industry-specific ratios of workers to have current first aid certification through approved first aid training organizations.

First Aid Courses

  • CPR A  – half day program (including AED certification) that covers CPR and AED skills for adults and children only
  • CPR C – 6 – 6.5 hour program (including AED certification) that includes CPR AND AED skills for adults, children and babies
  • Emergency First Aid – 8 – 8.5 hour course which covers life threatening emergencies, and includes CPR and AED at whichever level the client requires Download Fact Sheet

Wilderness and Remote First Aid Courses

  • Remote First Aid – 20 hour course designed for people who work or play in the remote places, in the outdoors or engage in self-led wilderness recreation. It  includes all Standard First Aid skills, CPR level C and AED, plus special outdoor skills and knowledge required when providing care in remote or wilderness environments that are less than 24 hours from hospital care. Most of this course is taught outside.
  • Wilderness First Aid – 40 hour course designed for those who work in the outdoors, or are professionally responsible for leading others in outdoor recreation. It includes all Standard First Aid skills, CPR level C and AED, plus special outdoor skills and knowledge that may be required when providing first aid care in remote or wilderness environments that are more than 24 hours from hospital care, with emphasis on prevention through planning and leadership. Most of this course is taught in the outdoors. Having twice as much time means the Wilderness First Aid course allows you much more opportunity to practice the valuable knowledge and skills you learned during the training.  Download Fact Sheet
